Proofreading of Italian translation of study on the international automotive sector

The Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung is an internationally operating non-profit organisation for civic education affiliated with Germany’s Left Party. It is a discussion forum for progressive political alternatives and a centre for critical thinking and research both in Germany and throughout the world. The Brussels Office operates as a think tank reflecting on European and international issues affecting contemporary society.

Objectives

The tender is for a service of proofreading of an Italian translation of the study on the international automotive sector published by the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung Brussels in December 2021. In the English language version the study has approx. 606.000 characters / 92.000 words which is around 222 pages. The study discusses the current challenges for the automotive sector and the potential to build up alternative production capacities for public transport and rail transport. The countries covered in the study are France, Italy, Spain, Czechia, Slovakia, Serbia and Brazil.

The planned new publication will be the translation of the study from English to Italian.

The service provider will proofread the Italian translation and improve the text flow taking into account the consistent use of common technical terms in the expert debate on the transformation of the automotive industry, where necessary.

About the study

The study “The need for transformation – current challenges for the international automotive sector – Voices from unions, workers, climate movement, industry” covers the countries France, Italy, Spain, Czechia, Slovakia, Serbia and Brazil.

The authors of the different chapters are: Samuel Klebaner (France), Matteo Gaddi (Italy), Marc Andreu Acebal and Salvador Claros Ferret (Spain), Patrik Gazo, Monika Martiskova and Thomas S. J. Smith (Czechia and Slovakia), Darko Vesic and Tanja Vuksa (Serbia), Renato Boareto, David Shiling Tsai and Andre Luis Ferreira (Brazil).

Requirements

  • Italian as mother tongue
  • Good knowledge of the current discussions around automotive industry, industrial policy, economics
  • Good knowledge of English
  • Editorial experience
  • Familiarity with leftist positions as well as critical and progressive thinking
  • Identification with the values and objectives of the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung.

Terms of reference

The scope of work includes the proofreading of the Italian translation of the study, checking the text for comprehensibility and readability, improving the Italian translation where necessary.

Timeline

  • Deadline for tender submissions: 11 April 2022 at 13:00 CET
  • Notification of acceptance of tender by 15 April 2022
  • Submission of the revised Italian translation by 29 April 2022 at 13:00 CET

Conditions

Applicants are advised that renewal of this contract is not envisaged. An invoice should be sent to the Brussels Office of Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung after completion of all agreed contractual services.

The award criteria are: 50% price, 30% expertise, 20% experience in working with left actors.
