Private: Job Listing – Project Manager (full-time)

The Brussels Office of the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung (RLS) is seeking to hire a
Project Manager (PM) to start as soon as possible. This is a full-time position (38 hours per week), initially fixed-term until 31 December 2026 with the possibility of extension. The place of work is Brussels, the position cannot be performed remotely.

The RLS is a globally active German political foundation guided by the thoughts and actions of its namesake, the socialist icon Rosa Luxemburg. We are committed to peace, democracy, social justice, and democratic socialism. The RLS maintains a foreign office in Brussels with a liaison office in Madrid, devoted to critical analysis of European Union policy and responsible for projects in Northern, Southern and Western Europe.

Tasks and Responsibilities

The PM oversees activities focused on EU policies from a progressive, left-oriented perspective, with a particular focus on climate and energy, green strategies and trade policy developments. This includes supporting of partner activities within these areas at both global and European levels. Following political development in the office program’s region and fostering engagement with left-leaning actors will be important components of partner relations. The position entails the planning, execution, and documentation of projects related to political education.

The tasks include:

  • Preparation of content and organisation, implementation and evaluation of events and educational trips, including budgetary oversight;
  • Conception and implementation of multilingual publication projects;
  • Cooperation with institutions, non-governmental and other partners organisations;
  • Independent project management including documentation, materials for public relations and budgetary oversight;
  • Handling tendering procedures as well as negotiating and concluding funding agreements;
  • Research as well as supervision of analyses and texts on focal and regional issues;
  • Representation of RLS in different networking formats;
  • Assumption of general office tasks.
Necessary Qualifications

You have a high level of commitment and a willingness to learn new things. You enjoy working in an international environment, communicating with members of parliament, academics, civil society organisations and activists from around the world. Your profile:

  • A post-secondary degree in the humanities or social sciences, comparable qualification or equivalent professional experience;
  • A strong interest in climate, energy, and trade policy developments;
    Familiarity with current left-oriented debates in these fields is highly desirable;
  • Professional experience with project management in non-profit, social movement, party and/or government/institutional contexts;
  • Experience in political education work, writing policy papers and/or articles and the ability to familiarize oneself quickly with new issues;
  • Sound knowledge of the functioning of the EU, its actors and current policy debates is highly desirable;
  • Very good knowledge of English;
    Good knowledge of German and French is highly desirable;
  • Strong communication and organizational skills and ability to work in a team;
  • A high level of familiarity with the common office software and a willingness to familiarize oneself with new applications;
  • Willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends;
  • Identification with the values and mission of the RLS;
  • Familiarity with the political Left (parties, social movements, etc.);
  • Knowledge and practical experience with public tenders and procurements as well as experience with working with external service providers is desirable.
