Lessons in Organising from Across the Left

Daniel Sestrajcic, Ada Regelmann & Susanne Lang

We are excited to share the first-ever Organize! reader, launched during the Organize! Movement Meetup in Malmö on 15–17 May 2026, organised by the Brussels Office of the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung together with the Clara Foundation and the Zetkin Foundation. This marks the beginning of what will become an annual publication dedicated to organising, strategy, and collective power-building across the international Left.

Across 128 pages, the reader brings together experiences, reflections, and practical insights from dozens of organisers, campaigners, and political actors. It features interviews with Valery Alzaga, Jeremy Corbyn, Susanne Lang (Die Linke), and James Schneider (Progressive International), alongside contributions on organising methods such as deep canvassing, phone banking, and movement media.

Among the featured articles is How Scaling Boosted Zohran Mamdani’s Campaign, in which Arielle Swernoff reflects on the strategies behind the historic New York mayoral campaign. In Numbers Don’t Lie: How Phone Calls and Local Papers Boosted the Swedish Left, William Skoglund explores campaigning methods that strengthened the visibility and reach of the Swedish Left Party. Bruno Lauteslager contributes insights into deep canvassing and transformative political conversations in Changing People’s Hearts and Minds by Door-Knocking, while Aron Etzler reflects on political energy, motivation, and movement culture in Bottling Magic.

The reader also includes portraits of organisations involved in the meetup, as well as a guide to Malmö created for participants joining the conference from across Europe and beyond.
