While households can no longer afford to pay their energy bills, the electrification of uses is lagging behind, and the European industry continues to pay electricity prices three times higher than in the United States, the European Union continues to liberalize the energy sector. This is a political choice driven by a single objective: the privatization of the sector at the expense of society as a whole.
As a response, the publication Mapping a Public Pathway for Europe’s Energy Transition, produced by Trade Unions for Energy Democracy (TUED) and published by the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, looks at an alternative to the European energy system. The report explores the central role of public ownership for an energy and industrial policy that serves social and environmental needs.
MEP Marina Mesure and the Rosa Luxembourg Foundation invite you to a debate at the European Parliament on Tuesday, December 10, from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM, to discuss the need to reform the electric and energy system in Europe in order to address the social and climate crisis. And to forge an alternative to the ongoing deindustrialization in Europe!
To participate, please fill out the registration form by the deadline of Thursday, December 5 so that we can accredit you to enter the parliament or to receive the link to follow the event online.
